We’re back again this month with our favourites for the month of February where we cover a very random list of things ranging all the way from T-swift to Avocados (we did warn you it would be random). Have a read of what TV we’re loving this month, what new gadgets we’ve been using, the music that we’ve had on repeat and what we’ve been eating! All wrapped up nice and neatly into a February favourites post for you guys to peruse – we hope you enjoy!
Fuji Instax Mini 90
Those of you who’ve been following us for a while will know that we’ve been after one of these since we first tried them out back in September at Photokina. Film photography seems to be going through something of a resurgence at the moment and instant print cameras seem to be at the very heart of it. We love the Fuji Instax Mini 90 for it’s cool retro styling (something which Fuji executes so well across it’s range), the credit card-sized prints perfect for stashing in your purse and the point and shoot ease of use. We’ve got some exciting projects planned using this camera so keep your eyes peeled for more soon!
The Walking Dead
We know, there’s nothing new about The Walking Dead, after all it is probably the most-watched television show in America right now. Now in it’s fifth season, it has recently returned from it’s mid-season break and is back with what looks like a new story arch and plenty of bite… Sorry, couldn’t resist. We won’t say anymore than that – this is a spoiler-free zone – but if you’re new to the series then get ready for guts, heartbreak and plenty of head-stabbing action. And of course the inevitable discussion that follows; how exactly would you survive a zombie apocalypse?!
Ok, so it’s time we admitted something. Here goes… Taylor Swift has crafted some damn catchy pop music recently.
1989 is fun, upbeat and not quite as full of ex-boyfriend bashing as you might’ve come to expect from ol’ Swifty. We think you should give it a listen (although we suspect that you already secretly love it anyway). Our favourites include the so-catchy-you-can’t-help-but-dance ‘Shake it Off’ and understated ‘Style’ which has an intro that definitely makes us want to be somewhere warm and sunny *starts dreaming of holiday sun*
George the Poet
While we do not consider ourselves experts on musical matters, we like to think that we have a pretty broad spectrum covered; our Spotify playlists include everything from Jhene Aiko to The Smiths and lots of random artists and genres in between. One artist who has caught the attention of our ears recently is George the Poet. He definitely lives up to his name as his style features poetic communication of thought provoking themes clearly influenced by his surroundings. His tracks have a story telling quality which we love; it’s definitely kept us listening this month.
This may be a strange thing to shout from the rooftops about, but since we’ve both been on a bit of a health kick recently, the avocado has become quite the versatile ingredient in many of our mealtimes. The creamy fruit is rich in good fats – which of course means that you can eat it without feeling totally guilty. We personally love it in a salad, or even crushed with lemon, salt and pepper topped on wholewheat bread. So basically it’s our feeble attempt at moving towards a healthier lifestyle – but hey – we’re trying!
If you missed last month’s favourites where we covered the Serial podcast, Broadchurch, the Aeropress coffee maker and a few more, then check it out here 🙂
