A few weeks ago we found ourselves in the beautiful rural surroundings of Rutland, in the heart of the English countryside. Never one’s to miss a photo opportunity, we took full advantage of the idyllic location and some willing friends to bring you some late season summer dresses; perfect for making the most of the last few rays of sunshine!
With this summer having been.. well, rubbish quite frankly, it’s been a bit of a gamble stepping out of the house in any kind of summer attire at the best of times. Our weekend in Rutland was no exception and the brilliant sunshine we experienced was interspersed with sudden thunder storms and showers. When in doubtful situations like these, it’s always a good idea to go for some sturdy footwear, and they don’t come much sturdier than these Saloman hiking boots from Cotswolds Outdoor. While they don’t come cheap, this particular pair have walked the Great Wall of China, so a little bit of mud in the heart of the English countryside was no bother whatsoever.
Sarah, our friend turned model for the day, paired these with this 1970s-style hexagon print shirt dress from Urban Outfitters and headband from everyone’s faithful old friend – Claire’s Accessories – for a more on trend late summer look.
The second of our summer dresses sees the return of our friend Kayleigh, who featured on one of our most popular outfit posts from last year.
We still love Kayleigh’s laid back California-inspired style and the trend continues with this lightweight summer dress from H&M. Teaming it with a pair of wellies (these are from Trespass but we also find Fat Face usually has some good wellies at this time of year) makes for a perfect festival-inspired look. The SoCal vibes are out in full force again with this flower headband from H&M.
