A few days ago we were asked to come along to the Miss Selfridge SS15 Collection press day in Soho and being big Miss Selfridge fans we were looking forward to seeing all of the new pieces on offer! We turned up mid afternoon to a quaint pop up space on Greek Street with beautiful flower curtains, quirky décor and rails and rails of their new season offerings.
After having a bit of a peruse (ok fine, maybe we went through every piece with a fine tooth comb, don’t judge us) we picked up on some pieces that we absolutely loved. Being addicted to all things muted and monochrome, we really liked a twist on the classic colour palette with this white and khakhi collection. Full of light flowy jackets and shirts – it’s definitely something we’d wear in the warmer months for a chic put-together look.
The piece that was attracting a lot of attention however was this tan suede sleeveless dress – part of a collection of beautiful brown and pink suede pieces mixed with light blue airy accompaniments. We personally loved the suede collection as the quality and feel of the pieces were great; truly adding an aspect of luxury for a high-street collection.
Of course no summer collection would be complete without an offering of bold prints and in-your-face colour. If there’s one thing Miss Selfridge always does well in our opinion, it’s the tropical print. We really liked the boldly printed flowy culottes and shorts in this collection and are quite glad that orange is here to stay. We also can’t wait for the printed wide legged pants to make their way into stores this summer as we can definitely see ourselves swanning around in them on holiday.
Miss Selfridge also seem to have had a complete overhaul of their denim collection, with a lot of lighter washes as well as denim shirts, overalls and dresses. As much as we love denim, we’re probably not bold enough to rock denim overalls everyday, but we really liked these ripped light wash boyfriend jeans. We can picture it now: dressy top, ripped jeans and heels. The perfect just-threw-this-on outfit.
Lastly we have to give credit to the London Craft Club who were conducting tie-dying sessions for all the bloggers who were attending. The girls there were lovely and really helped us achieve the tie-dye look we were going for! We ended up going for a pair of distressed boyfriend denim dyed khaki green and we loved the finished result – a great touch for the press day!
Overall, the collections were well thought out, wearable and from what we heard from the lovely PR girls, reasonably priced. The new accessories and shoes were well suited to the collections, our favourites being the flirty lace up heels and statement necklaces. The jewellery on offer was also beautifully made. We actually fell inappropriately in love with this beaded cuff, so much so that we popped into Miss Selfridge Oxford Circus straight after the event and purchased our own. The collections should make their way into stores by the end of February so keep an eye out if you like anything you see!
